What is Run, Jump, Throw?
Run, Jump, Throw is our introductory athletics programme for children ages 5 to 12 to give them an opportunity to participate in athletics activity before deciding whether to join Orkney Athletic and Running Club (OARC) which is affiliated to Scottish Athletics.
We work closely in partnership with OARC to develop the children's skills and abilities to help them feel more confident moving on to training with the Club.
Please note that the minimum age for joining OARC is 9 years and anyone wishing to join the Club after participating in RJT should contact the Club directly and / or fill in the online 'request to join form' on their website (www.orkneyarc.org.uk). There is not an automatic progression from RJT to OARC.
Who is it for?
Run, Jump, Throw is for children ages 5 to 12 years old.
For the younger aged children, the focus of the session will be multi-activity/skill based using a variety of fun games and activities, promoting general skill development of fundamental movement skills.
For the older aged children, activity will remain general while developing run, jump and throw activity, but can start introducing the general concepts of training in a fun environment.
The programme offers a wide range of activity including all aspects of running, jumping and throwing, no matter what their level of ability or skill set.
