At an archaeological dig in the ancient Egyptian city of Hamunaptra, American adventurer Rick O'Connell, Egyptologist Evelyn and her clumsy brother Jonathan inadvertently wake up a cursed mummy, Pharaoh Seti I's high priest Imhotep. Soon the monster is wreaking havoc as he searches for the reincarnation of his long-lost love, and the group face off against enemies living and dead as they struggle to send Imhotep back to his grave.
