BRAZIL, 1971. Brazil faces the tightening grip of a military dictatorship. Eunice Paiva, a mother of five children, is forced to reinvent herself after her family suffers a violent and arbitrary act by the government.

Oscar-winning drama based on Marcelo Rubens Paiva's biographical book, that tells the true story that helped reconstruct an important part of Brazil’s hidden history. Directed by Walter Salles (The Motorcycle Diaries, Central Station, On the Road) and starring Fernanda Torres, Selton Mello, Fernanda Montenegro.

Winner of the Best International Feature Film Oscar (where it was also nominated for Best Picture and Best Actress), the Best Actress (Drama) Golden Globe for Fernanda Torres, and Best Screenplay at the Venice Film Festival. It was also nominated for the Best Film Not in the English Language BAFTA, Critics Choice and London Critics’ Circle Awards.
