Café and Catering Manager

Overview:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious and customer-focused individual to join The Pickaquoy Centre as our Café & Catering Manager.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a busy and varied hospitality operation at the heart of one of Orkney's most important community facilities. Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Picky Café and associated catering services, you will play a key role in ensuring exceptional customer experiences whilst driving commercial performance and business growth.

The role combines managing the day-to-day café operations, event catering, team leadership and commercial management, offering plenty of variety and challenge. From delivering catering for children's parties, meetings and conferences to developing new opportunities for growth, you will have the opportunity to make a real impact on both the customer experience and the continued success of the service.

Trail Leader and Activity Instructor - Mountain Bike Track (MTB)

Overview: 

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the exciting evolution of Picky – home to Orkney's first and only purpose-built Mountain Bike Track. Help shape an exciting new facility, inspire riders of all ages and abilities, and play a key role in creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive experience for everyone who visits.

The successful applicant will support the delivery of introductory coaching sessions and beginner skill development, helping participants build confidence and fundamental riding techniques. 

This role includes a structured development pathway, with training provided to support progression into coaching.

Customer Services Advisor

Overview:

As the first point of contact for The Pickaquoy Centre, the Customer Services Advisor plays a key role in creating a positive and welcoming experience for all users. You will act as an ambassador for the Centre, delivering consistently high standards of customer service.

You will work both independently and as part of a supportive team, undertaking a wide range of reception and customer service duties including handling enquiries, processing bookings, managing cash transactions, basic administrative tasks, and promoting the Centre's facilities and services. Full training will be provided, however a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and basic level of administrative knowledge are desirable. 

This role requires a flexible approach to working hours across weekdays and weekends, including early mornings and late finishes. We are committed to being flexible where possible and welcome discussions about the availability you can offer.

Overview:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and customer-focused individual to join our Café Front of House team.

As one of the first points of contact for customers, you will play a key role in creating a welcoming and positive experience in The Picky Café. Duties include preparing and serving Costa-branded beverages, serving food, maintaining high standards of presentation and cleanliness, and ensuring customers receive professional and friendly service.

This casual role is particularly suited to individuals who are available on Friday afternoons, Saturdays and/or Sundays. The flexible hours can fit around a variety of commitments, including education, training, family responsibilities or other employment.

No previous café experience is required. We are looking for people with a positive attitude, excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service. Full training will be provided.

The Cleaning Team plays a vital role in creating a welcoming, safe and enjoyable environment for everyone who visits The Pickaquoy Centre. As a Cleaner, you will help maintain the high standards that our customers, community and colleagues expect, ensuring the facility remains clean, presentable and ready to use throughout the day.

More than just a cleaning role, you will be an important part of the team that helps shape the experience of our visitors. The cleanliness and presentation of our facilities creates first impressions, promotes wellbeing, supports safety and contributes directly to customer satisfaction.

We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has a keen eye for detail and understands the difference that high standards can make. You will work as part of a supportive team, undertaking a variety of cleaning duties across the Centre while helping to ensure all areas are maintained to an excellent standard and strict hygiene requirements are consistently met.

Cafe Kitchen Assistant

We are looking to offer a minimum of 14 hours per week and can consider additional or reduced hours depending on individual availability and operational requirements.

Regular weekend availability is preferred.

Join The Picky Café team and play an important role in keeping our kitchen running smoothly. As part of a busy café at the heart of the local community, you'll help maintain high standards of cleanliness, food preparation and presentation while ensuring all health and safety requirements and operational procedures are followed at all times.

We're looking for a reliable, conscientious individual who thrives in a busy environment.
