Cinema Projectionist

Casual (as and when required, on a rota basis)

Overview:

We are looking for an individual with passion for the cinema and arts and excellent attention to detail. You will be responsible for the general daily operations of The Phoenix Cinema, ensuring a quality product is delivered and a high level of customer service is maintained. You will be responsible for a variety of duties, including operating the projector and equipment for the show, assisting with marketing activity for the cinema, and working Front of House in the cinema kiosk.

The successful candidate must be available to work on a rota which will include daytime, evening and weekend shifts.

With Orkney due to host the International Island Games in 2025, there has never been a more exciting time to join our team.

Lifeguard

Overview:

We are looking to add to our team of Lifeguards - a rewarding and vital role in Picky's swimming pool. Lifeguarding is an essential and important public service, and those who train to be a Lifeguard will pick up a host of beneficial skills through training provided via courses from the RLSS (the Royal Life Saving Society), which will help promote safety and, ultimately, save lives.

The successful applicant must hold the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification. Full training will be provided if not currently held - please see course dates in the supplementary information below, 100% attendance to all training sessions is mandatory for the NPLQ course. 

This role offers an opportunity for someone that is keen to receive further training and develop their skillset.

Trustee (Voluntary)

What it involves:

The Pickaquoy Centre Trust is seeking to fill a vacancy on its Board of Trustees by appointing an individual with suitable skills and experience to join the Board in the strategic management of the Trust. 

Interested applicants must be able to demonstrate a commitment to the Trust's aims of developing and promoting participation in a wide range of sports, arts, leisure and conference facilities in order to improve the health, well-being and quality of life of those living in Orkney.

  • Applicants must be a resident in Orkney and appear on the current electoral register
  • The ideal candidate will have an interest in or experience of sports, arts and/or leisure provision, and be familiar with centre activities through regular use of the facility
  • Any experience of service planning, business, finance, law or human resources would also be beneficial
